Following rumours that surfaced earlier this year, we now have confirmation that a three-way collaboration between Jean Paul Gaultier, sacai and Nike will be officially launching later this month. The Swoosh brand has long since held a fruitful partnership with Chitose Abe’s sacai label, although this is the first time that the duo have enlisted the help of a third party in the form of Jean Paul Gautier. Set to launch in two colourways, the sneakers appear to use the popular VaporWaffle silhouette, with the designs nodding to the colours used on the original LDWaffle release from 2019.
The key feature that differentiates this JPG collaboration from other sacai x Nike releases is the woven upper across the kicks, a characteristic that’s reminiscent of the Air Woven, a sneaker that’s loved by footwear enthusiasts around the globe. Other notable details include the double-stacked midsole unit and dual-branding on both the tongues and heels.
