The Five Greatest Air Jordan Collaborations of All Time

Published: by Jack Aldrich

As we speak, the sneaker market is littered with collaborations. Some old-school sneakerheads and purists will even claim that it’s oversaturated, however we have to disagree on that part. While there may be more collaborations than ever before, it’s important to note just how influential some of these team efforts really are. Here at Crepslocker, we believe that some of the greatest collaborative efforts of all time have taken place in the last five years.

One brand that really takes centre stage when it comes to collaborations is Jordan Brand. While the label itself is deep-rooted in basketball heritage and classic styles, the team over at MJ’s namesake label and the Swoosh seem to have a niche for hunting down the hottest brands in the world to team up with. We’ve hand-picked our five favourite Air Jordan collabs of all time and listed them right here for you to check out, so take a read below and be sure to let us know which is your favourite!

Dior x Air Jordan 1 HighDior x Air Jordan

First on our list is a partnership that shocked the world. First announced back in 2020, who would have thought back then that a high-end fashion house like Dior would team up with Jordan Brand? Offering up an Air Jordan 1 High and a Low as well as a range of branded apparel, the extremely-limited capsule set the benchmark for collaborations to come, with sneakerheads around the globe still left lusting after these premium quality kicks. Hand-made in Italy and featuring the iconic Dior oblique pattern, these AJ1s still look as good today as they did on the day of release.

Off-White x Air Jordan 4 SailOff-White x Air Jordan

Kick started by an immersive collaborative capsule that sent the sneaker world into a frenzy back in 2017, the late Virgil Abloh’s Off-White brand has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Jordan Brand since. The original “The 10” collection featured an altered version of the AJ1 “Chicago”, which has also launched in “UNC” and “Triple White” colourways since. The duo have also worked on the Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 5 and the Air Jordan 2. With Virgil Abloh a self-proclaimed MJ fanboy, most of these collaborative releases have paid homage to classic colourways from throughout Jordan’s prolific career.

Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 LowTravis Scott x Air Jordan

Houston-based artist Travis Scott may well be a global rap sensation, but it’s also safe to say that he knows a thing or two about sneakers. The Astroworld star has been a Nike partner since 2017 when he became a part of the AF100 project, however it was when he dropped his collaborative take on the AJ1 featuring reversed Swooshes in 2018 that the world really started to take notice. The mocha-hued sneaker is still one of the most hyped Jordan 1s ever, and since then Scott has worked on the AJ6, AJ1 Low and the AJ4, all to huge successes.

Nike SB x Air Jordan 4Nike SB x Air Jordan

While collaborations are usually between two brands, the start of 2023 birthed an in-house collaboration from the Swoosh. Nike’s dedicated skateboarding division and Jordan Brand joined forces to bring us a fresh take on the Air Jordan 4. The 1989 classic was decked out in a clean “Pine Green” colourway and injected with fresh details such as Nike SB branding on the heel tabs, a reinforced exterior built to withstand the impact of skateboarding and a gum sole. Arguably one of the best Air Jordan 4 releases in a long time, this pair was just as much of a hit with sneakerheads as it was with the skateboarding community.

Union LA x Air Jordan 4Union LA x Air Jordan

Last but by no means least, Union LA marks an inclusion of a retailed-led collaboration in this list. Serving up Los Angeles with the hottest sneakers since 1989, Union has since made a name for itself as a collaborative force to be reckoned with. Led by Chris Gibbs, the store has since worked in both the Air Jordan 1 and the Air Jordan 4, with each silhouette remaining incredibly hyped today. The store still holds an ongoing partnership with Jordan Brand, meaning we could well be due another release soon – here’s to hoping!
