When notorious sneaker label MSCHF unveiled the “Big Red Boots” back in February the brand sent the footwear community into shock, with consumers unsure if the pair were a genuine release or simply just a meme. While it was easy to convince yourself that the Astro Boy-style boots were some sort of elaborate joke, the pair were indeed real and did launch on the 16th February, subsequently selling out.
For a brief period of time it was impossible to enjoy a scroll through Instagram without seeing the boots in question. The pair seemed to transcend even beyond the sneaker space, with celebrities such as Giancarlo Esposito pictured wearing the head-turning red kicks. While the boots were difficult to get hold of upon their release, the good news is that they’re now set to return in a brand-new black colourway.
While we can’t quite call this pair more wearable (they’re still incredibly oversized compared to regular shoes), it’s safe to say that they’re at least less vibrantly-coloured than the OG pair. If you missed out last time, this could just be your chance to cop one of the most meme-worthy sneaker silhouettes of all time.
The kicks are launching via MSCHF’s website on the 26th October, so be sure to set your alarm if you’re looking to pick up a pair. In the meantime, keep it locked right here at Crepslocker for all the latest sneaker and streetwear news, as well as our curated selection of luxury fashion.
